Stanford Admission Requirements

Stanford seeks out applicants who have demonstrated academic excellence in their work so far. You can show Stanford admissions committee members that you truly excel by taking challenging courses in high school, where possible, and doing well in these courses.

According to Stanford, there is no minimum GPA or standardized test score required for admissions. Moreover, there is no minimum number of AP or honors courses successful applicants will have taken.

Rather, Stanford hopes to find applicants who have “commitment, dedication, and genuine interest” in expanding themselves intellectually. Applicants should be curious and enthusiastic about intellectual matters, and enjoy talking energetically about what they are learning.

In addition to academics, a significant commitment to community involvement – whether through athletics, the arts, or volunteer work – is a sought after quality in applicants.
